The next 4th gen iPod Touch will get a major overhaul and is said to include groundbreaking features – 720p HD Video Recording, a 3.2 MP Camera(and not the rumored 5 MP) and FaceTime calling over WiFi just like in iPhone 4. UK retailer John Lewis is claiming that the upcoming iPod Touch refresh will also feature an accelerometer and gyroscope which will add gaming credential to the media player.Some sources also add that new iPod touch will have a 3.2 megapixel camera that has similar characteristics to the one found in the iPhone 3GS.

Earlier in May we saw the leaked next iPod Touch 4G 64GB Model with a 2-megapixel camera and backside illuminated sensor (OV2665-6s)  from Vietnam manufactured by Omnivision. The claim by john Lewis looks legitimate and fits well with the leaked images.The iPod touch 1G to iPod touch 2G can be compared to the original iPhone to iPhone 3G design change. The iPhone 3G got a curved back and so did the second generation iPod touch. The iPhone 3GS looked the same as the iPhone 3G and the iPod touch 3rd generation looks the same as the second generation. If part history would repeat itself, the 4th iPod touch would follow the same design elements brought to the iPhone 4.But still the veracity of these features of iPod Touch 4 / 4G cannot be ascertained to carry in actual retail model which is slated to be presented in September this year.
