Download Firefox 4.0 Alpha Preview 64-bit version for Windows 7 & Vista

The first official bits of Firefox 4.0 for Windows is now available for download from Mozilla’s FTP servers.Mozilla was working hard in wrapping up the first 64-bit Builds of the next generation of its open source browser.You can grab a very early preview release of the next major iteration of x64 version of Firefox.Point to be noted that this is a pre-Alpha release, and not a fully fledged Alpha development milestone.But this build is not that it can’t be tested and tried.

If you look at the filename of the build it is “Firefox-3.7a5pre.en-US.win64-x86_64“.but don’t get confused as to why it’s 3.7.This is just as reference, as v3.7 was dropped, Out of Process Plugins (OOPP) will be delivered in a day or two for Firefox 3.6.4.

Some testers have indicated that, following installation, on the first run of x64 Firefox, they received an error informing that MSVCR100.dll was missing. As a direct result, 64-bit Firefox 4.0 pre-Alpha did not start. This is valid for both the installer and the .ZIP. In fact, the reason for the same is it is a simple packaging issue, and to resolve the error you would need do some tweaks.Read below how to fix it.

Essentially, in order to run the pre-Alpha Build of 64-bit (x64) Firefox 4.0 on Windows 7, users will need Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x64). According to Microsoft,

The Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package installs runtime components of Visual C++ Libraries required to run applications developed with Visual C++ on a computer that does not have Visual C++ 2010 installed.

So just make sure to have the Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x64) installed, in order to be able to run the Alpha preview of 64-bit (x64) Firefox 4.0 for Windows 7.That’s it you should be having no issues once you have these so what are waiting for go go go !!

Finally the official Beta software of Office 2010 with the office web applications is now made available on MSDN and TechNet Plus .Those with subscription to both can download and check out the Office 2010 Beta with official product keys from Microsoft by going to Applications -> Office 2010 category.Office 2010 Beta is available in both 32 and 64-bit versions.Older versions including screens of  Beta1 Mondo build 14.0.4417.10 have been leaked previously latest being the 14.0.4514.1009 version for 32bit and 64 bit versions.The Build number which is available in MSDN/Technet of Office 2010 Beta is 14.0.4536.1000 which is newer than the previously leaked build 14.0.4514.1009.Thanks to VG for screenshot and Taimur for links

Windows 7 64-Bit (x64) Download Links

I had posted about the Download links for 32 bit editions, here are the links for the 64 bit edition.Customers who buy Windows 7 via online stores such as Digital River may receive the delivery of Windows 7 installation files by way of electronic software distribution (ESD). User who only wants to download Windows 7 installation files via official and verified source can choose to download the ESD files instead, which contains setup1.box, setup2.box and a edition-specific Windows 7 setup installer, and not in ISO format.

If you are kinda sceptical to download from the torrent network and screw your pc with spyware and trojans then you can download the ESD version of Windows 7 setup installer instead. Windows 7 setup installer that is downloaded via ESD channel is meant for upgrade version license or product key, and hence no ISO for burning to DVD or USB flash drive is provided.

As similiar to the 32 bit editions the direct download links to the Windows 7 operating system  64 bit versions which are distributed via digital software distribution channel online have been leaked. The installation files of Windows 7 is hosted on the server on domain msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net owned by Digital River, one of the delivery partners for Vista and also the brain behind Windows Marketplace e-commerce store.

Similiar to the 32 bit editions, each edition of Windows 7 has will have its different download links. The Windows 7 setup installer package comes in 3 parts, which is an executable that starts the extraction or unpacking and installation process, plus setup1.box and setup2.box. After extracting all content to a folder named ExpandedSetup, the installation files should be the same with what contains on a DVD.Here are the links for them.

As the sizes are huge go for a dedicated download manager and download the links.After downloading the files, simply double click on the exe file, e.g. Win7-P-Retail-en-us-x64.exe to start unloading the box and to install Windows 7.Note that 3 files must be put together in the same directory. You still need a product key to activate installed Windows 7 though.To make the ISO or DVD disc out of the Windows 7 ESD files, follow the tutorial by Mydigital life.Suppose if you want to install a different SKU than the one which is given then follow the ei.cfg trick to install Windows 7 of your choice.

Download Microsoft Office 2010 Beta 1 Mondo Build 14.0.4417.1000

A newer build version of Microsoft Office 2010 has been compiled and leaked to Internet.The new build has the wording of “BETA” printed on Office applications such as Word 2010, Excel 2010, PowerPoint 2010, Outlook 2010, OneNote 2010, SharePoint 2010, Project 2010, Visio 2010 and Publisher 2010 on “About” dialog and Start Menu, although it’s still a “Technical Preview” in splash screen. Thus it is probably a newer development milestone (may be Beta 1) past Office 2010 Technical Preview, where had also leaked for download.Both the 32-bit and the 64-bit flavors of Office 2010 Build 4417 have been leaked and are now up for grabs via HTTP direct download or torrents.

This release, (build 14.0.4417.1000) is the “Mondo edition” which has stood for an “Ultimate” version in the past. Strangely enough, ArsTechnica points out that all references and SKUs to Ultimate have been removed. This is also the first build that references the applications as “Beta” signifying that Microsoft may be much farther along than originally expected. According to a Microsoft Office employee, the “Mondo” name is used for testing purposes only and is never planned to have an associated SKU.The screenshots of Office 2010 Beta release version 14.0.4417.1000 has been published on WZor.net website days ago, but the setup installation files have just been leaked.

The last leaked version of Office 2010 Mondo Build 14.0.4302.1000 brought various issues and problems to the installed system, and was not able to be uninstalled and removed easily. The new build of Office 2010 Mondo is now able to uninstalled properly.
