In the war of the search engines Bing has come as a tough competitor to Google.Search using Bing gives  more information at shorter time and with results compact to your search query. But text search can be tough at times when you know what and how it looks like but don’t remember the term to search for. To give a nice alternative to this Microsoft has come with a new feature for Bing 2.0 named Visual Search. Visual Search presents you with a grid of images, making it easy to find exactly what you need without having to know its exact name.

The feature is powered by Silverlight and you would need to install Silverlight to experience this, the content for Visual Search is provided by several sources, one of them being MSN. The transitions look quite cool,In this era of competitions Bing is moving one step ahead of Big Daddy Google with new innovations.

How many times have you seen a movie trailer and forgotten the name of it the next day? You go online to search for it but you can’t seem to find the movie with “what’s-his-name” in it anywhere but you can picture the actor in your head.

A study conducted by Microsoft Research shows that consumers can process results with images 20% faster than text only results.  So it’s clear that images play a big part in helping consumer’s with a variety of search activities.

When i tried this it was not working for me even though i had Silver light installed, then i got to know that it was only available for the American Version. To experience this on the top right corner of Bing Choose Preferences and select United States of America(English) then visit the following page Bing Visual Search. This feature is really cool and i would love to hear your views on it.
