It was also rated one of the best free ware apps for security.It comes with a basic antivirus and antispyware protection and will include lifetime upgrades and updates from Microsoft, however it does not have advanced features like web scanning , phishing protection ,instant messaging protection ,firewall etc.So this is a not a complete alternative to best paid antivirus solutions like Nod32 or Kaspersky.But as long its free why not try and give your views on it. Mary Jo foley confirmed with Microsoft confirming MSE will ship on September 29.From a spokesperson: “I can confirm that Microsoft Security Essentials, the company’s highly anticipated no cost consumer security offering, will be released to the public tomorrow, September 29th.” It will be available in 19 markets worldwide, according to the company.

Microsoft is targeting MSE at customers who are unwilling and unable to pay for security software. Company officials have said they believed it was worth offering customers a free product to help thwart security breaches on unprotected Windows PCs that potentially could be used to infect other users’ systems.

On September 29, Microsoft also is holding a Webcast where CEO Steve Ballmer is planning to detail how Microsoft customers can, with less, do more. It’s part of the company’s “New Efficiency” enterprise-focused campaign and is slated to touch on a host of soon-to-be-shipping Microsoft products, including Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Exchange 2010, Forefront, System Center and the Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack.

Microsoft Security Essentials, independently certified by West Coast Labs, is backed by the company’s global security response team and is built on the same award-winning core security technology found in the company’s security solutions for businesses. It requires no registration, trials or renewals and will be available for Windows XP SP2 or SP3, Windows Vista and Windows 7 including Windows XP mode on both x32 and x64 PCs.

Microsoft Security Essentials will be available in eight languages and 19 countries including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.

I had blogged about Microsoft Security Essentials Beta and how to get it the next version for it, now the Final version of Microsoft Security Essentials(MSE) would be released pretty soon as per the quote which was sent to the Beta testers of the free one care anti-malware from Microsoft.This is what they had to say,

The final version of Microsoft Security Essentials will be released to the public in the coming weeks.” In the meantime, feel free to give the beta a try, and potentially helping to improve the product.

MSE is going strong and as more and more testers get involved the better for Redmond to stabilize and improve MSE. MSE already has a strong base, with 400,000 testers during the beta release.I am using it on my Windows 7 RTM and i say i am loving it totally.
