Designer Creates his own vision of the Next Gen Xbox

We have been hearing lot of rumors about XBOX and there has been lot of speculation over Microsoft’s plans for the Xbox 360 and some of them include that they might team up with TV OEM’s for inbuilt Kinect TV’s.News is also that it’s working on a new model which would be out in 2012.One more rumor mill is that, a designer has opted to create his own vision of the next gen Xbox.Joseph Dumary, a designer at Yanko Design, has created a new Xbox concept that ditches the optical drive and controllers.

The 100% digital Xbox Prestige uses the foundations of the previous 360 Kinect to form this completely controller-less gaming console that’s even smaller than the Xbox Slim,” explains Yanko Design. Pocket-Lint notes that the design follows rumors that Microsoft will launch a non-optical drive model of its Xbox to focus on digital content. One part of the concept is named “KinectIN” and includes two cameras built into the console. For more images, see Yanko Design.

December 6 is not too far away when the Xbox dashboard goes public which will provide nearly 40 different live TV stations. Microsoft is also preparing to make new Kinect for Windows hardware available in early 2012. The optimized hardware includes components for PC scenarios. Microsoft is planning to shorten the USB cable to ensure reliability across a range of computers. The company will also include a small dongle to help ease coexistence with other USB devices. The new firmware updates for the Kinect will enable the depth camera to see objects as close as 50 centimeters in front of the device without losing any precision. Microsoft calls this “Near Mode” and the company hopes it will enable a whole new class of “up close” apps that have not been made available previously.

Microsoft plans new Windows system for mobile devices

According to reports, Microsoft is working on a new Windows system for mobile devices like tablet computers. The system would focus on devices using energy-saving chips designed by the British company ARM. Many of ARM’s chips are currently used in both the iPad and iPhone from Apple and even in high-end phones from Samsung etc.Now

Windows will reportedly offer versions of its Windows CE and Windows Phone 7 systems that run on ARM chips. Its standard Desktop Windows system will be designed for x-86 architecture chips from Intel and AMD.

Steve Ballmer is expected to present the new systems in January at the Consumer Electronics Show(CES) in Las Vegas.According to info the new systems should support chips from both ARM, Intel and AMD. Qualcomm, Texas Instruments and Samsung all produce chips with ARM designs.

Microsoft ‘s biggest competitor Apple now dominates the tablet computer market, selling 7.5 million of its iPads between its debut in April and the end of September.Market researcher Strategy Analytics estimates that Apple currently holds 95 per cent of the tablet computer market.However, tablet computers running Google’s Android operating system are expected to eat into that lead in the coming future.

An alliance with ARM could help Microsoft catch up in the mobile devices market and gain more of the market share.Microsoft official Achim Berg has noted that, since the introduction of its smart phone software, Windows Phone 7, 1.5 million Windows mobiles have been sold, meeting expectations.

We have seen many a leaks of HTC HD7 the successor of the HTC HD2 in the Windows Phone 7 family,speculated as one of the beasts in the Windows Phone 7 devices having higher end hardware than any other manufactures for that matter,with 4.3 ” screen ,1Ghz snapdragon,5Megapixel camera and much more.

And now as engadget is reporting this beast has just got a price tag.If their reports are to be believed then it’s priced at €559 approx 770$ without a contract and 109$ with a 2 year contract.The device is also rumored to be released in less than 2 weeks of time in germany.With so much speculations about the October 11 event floating this might just turn out to be true.

For that we just have to wait for the day.

LG Fathom to be out soon shows up on Best Buy for 99.99$ with 2 yr contract

LG Fathom similar to the HTC HD 2 which runs on Windows Mobile 6.5 pro seems to be out soon.Packing a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor,256 MB of Ram, a full 3.2″ touchscreen and slide-out QWERTY keyboard, it’s a solid piece of hardware prematurely plagued to obsolescence by a dying operating system. Ah well.with Android taking up the market share along with efforts from Apple to Windows Mobile needs something crunchy to beat them.

Why do you think you should go for LG Fathom coz you will be able to get it relatively cheap.One of the sources at Mobile crunch just sent a screen shot of the LG Fathom shelf tag freshly printed from the Best Buy’s inventory lot with the price and all.Some source say this would be launched by May 27th, you should be able to walk out with a Fathom for $99.99 on a 2-year contract and 499.99$ without the contract.So who’s up for it ?

Office Mobile 2010 released, free upgrade for WinMo 6.5 users

Last year Office Mobile 2010 went into and beta, now its passed RTm and is now available in conjunction with the retail release of the full desktop version of Office 2010, bringing comprehensive Word, Excel, and PowerPoint editing capabilities to the pocket on Windows Mobile 6.5. We agree that Windows Phone 7 is Microsoft’s biggest mobile news this year, but there’ll be a huge legacy base of 6.5 users out there for a long time to come, and they’re pretty much the core audience for the sorts of features that Office Mobile 2010 is offering like SharePoint integration for grabbing documents from the office, a nifty Bluetooth controller mode for PowerPoint presentations, and so on…

The download is available today from Windows Marketplace(4975 KB) for users of 6.5 devices with an older version of Office Mobile installed.It is available as free update for all Windows Mobile devices running WinMo 6.5.

Office Mobile 2010 includes the applications like Word Mobile 2010,Excel Mobile 2010,PowerPoint Mobile 2010,OneNote Mobile 2010,SharePoint Workspace Mobile 2010.Unfortunately, Outlook Mobile is not including as part of the update on Office Mobile 2010, meaning there is no change to Outlook E-mail, Contacts, Messaging, Calendar, and Tasks apps on Windows Mobile 6.5 does not get any change.

To download Office Mobile 2010, click on the Marketplace icon on WinMob 6.5 Phone device, then sign in to Marketplace (typically with Windows Live ID). Then search for Office Mobile 2010.Users can also visit Office Mobile 2010 webpage on marketplace.windowsphone.com to “purchase” the app for free. Anyway, Windows Mobile phone users will still need to go Marketplace app to go to My Apps and select “Ready for Download” to initiate the upgrade of Office Mobile 6.1 to Office Mobile 2010.
