Sony announces the Xperia U and Xperia P at the MWC

Sony Mobile Communications unveiled the latest additions to its Xperia NXT series – next generation smartphones from Sony, the new Xperia P and Xperia U.Xperia P is still a Gingerbread Android smartphone but still housing dual-core power under the hood.Previously known as the Nyphon, the Xperia P has a 4-inch “WhiteMagic” display encased in an aluminum uni body. This new screen technology is apparently geared toward outdoor viewing, with NFC, HDMI connectivity and an 8-megapixel camera with full HD video capability. It will also be gifted with its own incoming SmartDock, which is set to arrive alongside the phone. In addition to this Sony also uneveiled Xperia U.It’s a 3.5-inch phone offers up a Reality Display, a 1GHz dual-core processor and five megapixel camera but coming with Gingerbread for now but a planned upgrade to ICS has been announced.According to Sony, the handset should get up to six and a half hours of talk time and this phone should be out in Q2 though.Xperia U packs powerful Sony entertainment in a stylish and compact design.Check out Engadget’s hands on
