While consumers are waiting for Samsung’s 55 inch OLED display to reach big box stores, Korea’s Ministry of Knowledge Economy has selected LG to lead the a consortium in developing a 60-inch flexible OLED by 2017. The goal here is to generate exports and create jobs by promoting next-generation technologies.
These flexible displays could be used by various companies for their campaigns like trade shows and conferences.
But there have been reports of 11 people being arrested in South Korea for stealing AMOLED screens from Samsung.I am not sure on how these are true but Samsung being the first one to start off the OLED would not want LG to take over in this segment. So the future looks bright as well as competitive for these OLED TV manufacturers. What’s your take on it ! Do you feel Apple might come into this arena by sourcing parts from other manufacturers and putting them together ?
