Digitimes is reporting that from their source from Taiwan based supply chain makers that the next version of Android i.e Android 5.0 aka Jelly Bean would be launched in second quarter of 2012(Q2).We know that Android 4.0 aka Ice cream sandwich has not been able to penetrate into most of the Android phones either due to hardware incompatibility or Manufacturers or Google isn’t rolling a update.I couldn’t enjoy it on my Optimus One then I moved to Samsung Galaxy S2 and ported ICS roms (so many of them, currently on XXPLB 4.03 version)thanks to XDA developers.Coming back to the point, as time passes by we might tablets and smartphones coming equipped with Android 4.0 but for now we would be happy to hear that Google would improve “tablet” and T.V experience with Android 5.0.
Now why do you think this would be somewhere close to Q2 2012 ? The reason is Microsoft will launch Windows 8 in the third quarter of 2012 along with Apple’s iOS 5 and Google wants to appeal for adopting Android 5.0 and Windows 8 in the same tablet PC.One of the key features of the Jelly Bean might be its ability to run dual boot Chrome OS.
Android 5.0 will be further optimized for tablet PCs, while Google will also integrate its Chrome system functions to push dual-operating system designs. Brand vendors can either choose to adopt only Android 5.0 or add Android 5.0 to Windows 8 devices with the ability to switch between the two OSes without the need to shut down the computer.
Through Android 5.0, Google also wishes to earn another chance to enter the notebook and netbook markets.
It’s expected that Google might include Chrome OS elements in Jelly Bean OS but there is no confirmation on that though for now.So wait til May or June for the official announcement probably in Google I/O Dev 2012 conference
