After the Release candidate 1 and Release candidate 2 was released few days back a final stable build of Firefox 3.6 is released by Mozilla for Windows, Mac, and Linux. This is considered as a major release and not a incremental release until Firefox 4.0 comes to light as Firefox 3.7 has been dropped from release. As discussed before let me tell you what’s changed.
- Some changes to how third party software are allowed to integrate with Firefox in order to prevent crashes.
- More than 70 fixes issued from the last beta to improve performance, stability, security and features.
- Personas support to change look and feel inbuilt.
- Firefox 3.6 will alert users about out of date plugins to keep them safe.
- The ability to run scripts asynchronously to speed up page load times.
- Support for new CSS, DOM and HTML5 web technologies.
- Improved JavaScript performance, overall browser responsiveness and startup time.
- Open, native video can now be displayed full screen(if you are using HTML 5 to view embedded Ogg videos), and supports poster frames.
- Support for the WOFF(Web open font format) font format.
Firefox 3.6 will load webpages 20% faster than version 3.5, reducing their overall speed to just under a second. Web designers will receive a CSS gradient and background and an updated file API for web application developers, to work just like desktop apps. Firefox will also add drag and drop support, and even detect your computer orientation.

This is great news for me. My previous version of firefox kept crashing and although the it gets restored still it is delays and disrupts whatever I’m working on. The drag and drop feature is also a big plus.
