One of the most used browsers Mozilla has updated its version to 3.5.4.Many issues and bugs have been fixed to get this version out.Some of them are included below.

Fixed several stability issues.
Added the ability to re-submit crash reports (bug 378528)

As you have been updating to every latest version just by going to Help  and then check for updates, starts the update installer and restart firefox to get the latest updated version of Firefox.You can also download the setup installers from below.

I had posted about the Download links for 32 bit editions, here are the links for the 64 bit edition.Customers who buy Windows 7 via online stores such as Digital River may receive the delivery of Windows 7 installation files by way of electronic software distribution (ESD). User who only wants to download Windows 7 installation files via official and verified source can choose to download the ESD files instead, which contains setup1.box, setup2.box and a edition-specific Windows 7 setup installer, and not in ISO format.

If you are kinda sceptical to download from the torrent network and screw your pc with spyware and trojans then you can download the ESD version of Windows 7 setup installer instead. Windows 7 setup installer that is downloaded via ESD channel is meant for upgrade version license or product key, and hence no ISO for burning to DVD or USB flash drive is provided.

As similiar to the 32 bit editions the direct download links to the Windows 7 operating system  64 bit versions which are distributed via digital software distribution channel online have been leaked. The installation files of Windows 7 is hosted on the server on domain msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net owned by Digital River, one of the delivery partners for Vista and also the brain behind Windows Marketplace e-commerce store.

As the sizes are huge go for a dedicated download manager and download the links.After downloading the files, simply double click on the exe file, e.g. Win7-P-Retail-en-us-x64.exe to start unloading the box and to install Windows 7.Note that 3 files must be put together in the same directory. You still need a product key to activate installed Windows 7 though.To make the ISO or DVD disc out of the Windows 7 ESD files, follow the tutorial by Mydigital life.Suppose if you want to install a different SKU than the one which is given then follow the ei.cfg trick to install Windows 7 of your choice.

Windows 7 has been launched on October 22nd officially worldwide but Microsoft gave the option to get the Windows 7 DVD from retail stores or download the Windows 7 ISO.Microsoft never made available, the official download links that allow retail customers to download setup installer or ISO image of Windows 7, despite digital downloads have been the sole distribution channel for many who purchase from online store or via MSDN or TechNet subscriptions. Many users when they require a Windows 7 installation DVD or ISO image they don’t get the links or go for torrents or get it from MSDN/Technet but the problem there is the risk of getting fake, incorrect, malicious or infected images instead.

Now the direct download links to the Windows 7 operating system purchased online have been leaked. After Motorola showed up signs of launching the Motorola Droid android 2.0 phone with the collab of Verizon now it’s HTC turn.HTC was forthcoming in saying that it’s had Android 2.0 around for a while, and is working on it for future phones. Perhaps the HTC Desire (dubbed Droid Eris) or the Passion will be one of those phones? It seems likely that the HTC dragon will end up packing the Android 2.0.Gearlog have confirmed that the company is indeed already playing with the next-gen version of Google’s open-source platform. It would be odd to see Verizon introduce a 2.0 handset from Motorola and only 1.5 or 1.6 handsets from HTC,This would be made sure as it goes confirmed in the upcoming month. They also wouldn’t say whether any of their existing range of Android devices would see upgrades to OS 2.0; right now certain models have been updated to v1.6, but not all.With more competition into Android arena many mobile companies will soon be joining them on the same track.Will update if i get some more news.

Windows 7 prices in India

The question after the release of Windows in India,  is what price will it come and it was made clear after Microsoft announced the prices on October 22nd.Microsoft has confirmed that the Retail price in India, for the Full Packaged Product (FPP) Software offering of Windows 7 will be about 30-35% lower than equivalent Windows Vista offering.Finally the updated prices are as given below.

  • Windows 7 Ultimate – Rs 11,799
  • Windows 7 Professional – Rs 11,199
  • Windows 7 Home Premium – Rs 6,799
  • Windows 7 Home Basic – Rs 5,899.

If you see the pricing above it’s damn costly even though it may be 28% less compared to $199.99 retail for full version of Home Premium.Not every average user would be able to buy.Don’t think Microsoft will ever learn. With these prices every one will go for pirated ones rather than going for genuine.You can upgrade your pc hardware instead of going for Windows 7 OS.I am not saying don’t go for original ones, just saying the pricing isn’t justified.Not everyone can afford to pay to buy Windows 7 orignal ones.This leads to piracy and Microsoft never understands it.

Piracy happens because Microsoft keeps unreasonable prices for its OS versions even for developing countries. XP was never so much costly like Vista and 7.You know people actually buy antivirus now because it is affordable. And many more are buying the games they want to play. I think GTA4 PC version was an excellent example of right pricing.

  • Windows 7 Professional – $199.99
  • Windows 7 Ultimate – $219.99

  • Windows Anytime Upgrade: Windows 7 Home Premium to Professional  -$89.95
  • Windows Anytime Upgrade: Windows 7 Home Premium to Ultimate      -$139.95

No pricing on OEM versions is out yet.Ultimate would be around 8K and Professional would be around 7K.You can transfer the license to a new computer without hassles with a Retail version unlike the OEM.In OEM your license is tied to your motherboard, if the motherboard goes berseck there goes the license.(although there is telephonic activation).I donno how many will buy it but i am definitely waiting until my RTM expires.Pour your comments on the pricing.Do you feel Microsoft’s pricing is perfect for Indian subcontinent ?

In addition to the awesome set of themes available in Windows 7 gallery,Microsoft also made avaialble new set of themes 14 of them.To add to the list is a new Bing theme too and also 14 Regional themes.Click on any theme which you want to download. It will download a .themepack file. Double-click on the file and Windows 7 will automatically install and apply the new theme.
